1. You will want to start interviewing as early as possible. The reason being is many of the top wedding photographers book their weddings sometimes a year in advance. This does not mean your special date is booked. Talk with the photographer and see what can be negotiated to get you fitted with time.
2. Take a look at the photographers experience and technical ability. You will want to choose a photographer who is skilled and accommodate challenging conditions. Since your venue and wedding is one-of-a-kind and cannot be duplicated, make sure your photographer is equipped and ready for any condition.
3. Your relationship with your chosen photographer is key. Wedding photography should not be categorized into the mere business of payment upon delivery of service. Your wedding day requires a photographer’s attention to detail, inspirational touch and the utmost devotion. Choosing the right photographer is an intimate affair. Does your photographer take your wedding event with personal conviction? Is your photographer willing to share his/her personal experiences?
4. Ask all the questions you feel that are necessary to ensure the photographer is the right fit for you. Ask about traditional and current wedding photography trends, and how they will fit into your package. Remember there is no such thing as a dumb or too many questions.
5. When negotiating with your photographer, you will want to make sure you are speaking with someone who can make a decision with regard to pricing, package contents and changes in final deliverables. You will also want to make sure the photographer you are interviewing will be the one who is there at your wedding.
6. You will want to make sure the photographer is skilled in wedding photography. Wedding photography is a specialized field within ‘photography’ as we know it. When interviewing your photographer ask to see a whole documented wedding, so you can accurately judge and make an informed decision about your photographer.
7. Price. For many price is the deciding factor whether the photographer is hired or not. When visiting your photographer, sometimes you will be presented with various packages based on content and price. Keep in mind, the package is a base line in which to start from. If the base package fits your needs – great. If not, ask what can be done to determine a package that will better fit your needs.

Choosing your wedding dress is one of the most memorable milestones of your wedding. It is important to choose a dress that is beautiful (that will make you shine on your wedding day), as well as style and fit. Keep in mind fabrics, style and measurements all influence your dress. You want to find a dress that is the most flattering for your particular body type.
For a full figured bride consider an A-line style dress. An A-line style dress lengthens the whole body without drawing attention to your waistline. If A-line styles are not available, request an empire waist. An empire waist is another great choice, in that the empire sits just below the bust, helping to conceal waist and hips.
For the petite A-line wedding dresses are also flattering. As mentioned above, this style lengthens the body. Sheaths seem to shorten a small body even more, so petite women should avoid sheath-style wedding dresses. Also steer clear of very full skirts, which will make you look ‘bottom heavy’. You want to keep your wedding dress proportionate to your body. A cap sleeve gives the feeling of a strapless gown, and also serves the practical purpose of holding the gown in place.
For the large busted bride off-the-shoulder gowns look wonderful on a full bust. It draws our attention upward, emphasizes the shoulders and minimizes the chest. Keep your skirt narrow. Wearing a full skirt will make you look large both on top and bottom.
For the bottom heavy bride Women who are larger through their hips and buttocks should look for a wedding dress that focuses on their upper body — preferably with a full skirt. Show off your arms, back and bustline. A corset-style bodice with lacing will highlight your upper body. Avoid pleats or gathered fabric around the waist. An A-line skirted wedding dress always works the best for this body type.
Be proud of who you are! You are already a beautiful woman!

As the mega-pixel war continues between the major camera manufactures, the next generation of DSLR’s are on the horizon again. Several weeks ago, Canon released the 1D IV. I was not too surprised to see this one coming, although I was expecting more resolution (mega-pixels). But what was nice, this camera was released with HD-Video. That was cool (like the 5D MKII). Which make me wonder, what will the 1Ds IV have in store? I like the idea of having an HD-Video-DSLR combo. One element that is lacking in this first generation HD-Video-DSLR combo’s is the ability to auto focus. The Nikonian’s are one up with their introduction of the world’s first HD-Video-DSLR combo that auto focuses.

I was able to catch the last couple episodes of Top Shot on the History Channel. Have you seen this show? Some of the challenges these people go through are a test of concentration, and how well the shooter can navigate through the challenge. The last episode I was able to watch, the shooters were trying to break glass panels by a sling-shot with a steel bearing. That same week I learned that there was a competitive .22 shoot going on with extreme challenges similar to Top Shot on the History Channel. As a plug, check out RA Firearms, they can get you outfitted.

In April, we had the privilege of sharing with you a green certification that was awarded to us. This green certification was the first to be seen in New Mexico within the photography community. We were certified at as a green photography business. Since then, we have been working additional green certifications that are more specific to some our niche markets, more specifically our wedding market. Yesterday, we were awarded our second green certification. This certification was awarded by Green Wedding Providers, certifying us as a green ‘wedding’ photographer, first again in New Mexico.

We received some great news. We have become the first green certified photographer in New Mexico. It has been a long process. Over all it is an exciting and a rewarding experience. It has taken us a better part of year to evaluate our environmental impact, measure our consumables and renewable resources, and implement a strategy that can be obtainable while allowing us future green growth.
Becoming green required us to look from the inside-out and vice-versa. It required a different mindset and goals, but not impossible. Greening our company has helped us structurally and elevated our products and services.
To our clients: You can be assured you are receiving photographic excellence and quality, while minimizing environmental impact, recycling at its fullest, and promoting sustainability.
